Who We Are

Breathe Boxes Organization is a 501(c)3 public charity based in Richmond, VA. We are a young organization with an ambitious charge.  A mental health toolbox, a resource for youth and their families exposed to ACEs. Providing our young people with internal and external resources to support nervous system regulation, physical, mental and emotional wellbeing and expanding their capacity to heal and recover from the impact of trauma and toxic stress.

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) is a public health crisis and we would like to encourage everyone to become part of the solution. ACEs affect 34.8 million children in the U.S. across socio-economic lines, and are linked to chronic health problems like heart disease or cancer, mental health issues such as anxiety, depression, substance abuse and suicide, behavioral and learning problems, hormonal and immune systems.

Cultivating Wellness Practices for Self-care
- Beginning with Awareness -

One of the most important skills for self-care is the skill of awareness. What do we mean by awareness? It is the ability of bringing one’s attention to the present moment-our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surroundings with self-compassion and patience. Awareness is the first requirement for learning or change of any kind.

It's when we live in the moment.

It's when we observe our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations without judgement.

It's when we're awakened to new experiences and we learn acceptance.

It's when we learn to let go of the failures of the past and the worries of the future.

It's when we create space for others.

“With wellness practices, children discover their natural capacity, intuitive wisdom and inner power to bring balance and healing to themselves and others.”
